Orthodontics requires patient engagement and cooperation—primarily with oral hygiene and elastic wear; this applies to both braces and Invisalign®. We have developed a very comprehensive program to foster excellent patient cooperation, and parents LOVE it. We have quite a few patients each year who transfer to our office from another local orthodontist, and those families consistently compliment us on this program and our communication in general.
Through a series of verbal, written, and video communication with patients and parents, we encourage patients by acknowledging their excellent efforts and supporting change when needed. Every child is “graded” at every appointment on hygiene, elastic wear (when applicable), and overall treatment progress. We strive for “no surprises” with hygiene and treatment progress. The program we designed from scratch right here at TO has been endorsed by a PhD child psychologist, and it has been adopted by other orthodontists across the country.
