Dear TO Patient Families
I wanted to share a positive update with you all! Per the email blast we sent out several weeks ago, most of you are aware that I was diagnosed with leukemia at the beginning of the year. I was then admitted to the University of Colorado – Anschutz for chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant. I have completed the chemotherapy and the bone marrow transplant and am doing great! I’m back at home and have to take it easy to regain my strength. I’m super thankful for all the doctors and nurses and the amazing care they provided me in the hospital!
The doctors’ prognosis is super optimistic, and though the doctors have not given me an exact date which I will return to work, I will update you all when I know more. This cancer has really helped show me that each day is a gift from above. I can’t wait to get back to playing with my kids—jumping on the trampoline, watching silly movies, playing in the pool, and just embracing simple family time. Of course, straightening teeth is on that list too!
It is a blessing to be in a practice where Dr. Theroux (who has been a part of TO for 29 years) could come back immediately to see patients and minimize the disruption to appointment availability. I’m thankful to Dr. Theroux and Dr. Donahue who have both shifted their schedules around to ensure treatments stay on track.
We have fantastic, dedicated team members who have stepped up in remarkable ways to support me in my recovery. I’m so proud to be part of this Total Orthodontics team!
I am also grateful for the understanding and concern you all showed when we had to reschedule patients as I was seeking a diagnosis. I can’t thank you enough for your loyalty to our practice as I have gone through this tough time. It means the world to me, my family, and our entire TO team!
I truly miss you all and can’t wait to see you again!
